2007 PHOTOGRAPHS: FENCING AND THE CREATION OF THE BUFFER ZONE
Photographer: Joe Tenley
Geese that were able to fly got into the fenced area to dine on seeds and shoots.
Workers chase the geese away.
Since the installation of the fencing, Rochester residents report that they don't see geese at Silver Lake anymore and geese have been crossing busy streets to feed on fields and residential lawns. At this time, the city's heartless actions are causing grievous danger to the flightless geese.
The city has also posted NO FEEDING SIGNS throughout the park. When winter arrives, the fencing and no-feeding policy will cause great suffering for the crippled geese.
